Professional Pool Acid Wash
Restore the original beauty of your gunite pool. Our professional acid wash removes deep stains, algae roots, and mineral scale that standard cleaning can't touch.
What is an Acid Wash?
An acid wash is a specialized procedure where the pool is drained, and a carefully balanced solution of muriatic acid and water is applied to the plaster surface. This process effectively strips away a microscopic layer of plaster, revealing the fresh, clean finish underneath. It's often called a "drain and clean" or "stain removal" service.
Stain Removal
Removes stubborn organic stains from leaves, acorns, and dirt, as well as light metal staining and mineral scale.
Kill Algae Roots
Standard shock treatments can leave algae roots embedded in plaster pores. An acid wash kills them at the source.
Is an Acid Wash Right for Your Pool?
While an acid wash can make an old pool look new again, it's not always the right solution. Because it removes a layer of plaster, it should only be performed every few years. We recommend an acid wash when:
- The pool has been stagnant for a long period and has heavy algae growth.
- There are persistent mineral deposits or "calcium scale" on the walls.
- The plaster is stained or discolored but is still structurally sound.
- You are preparing for a new season and want the brightest possible finish.
Note: If your plaster is thin, hollow, or delaminating, we may recommend resurfacing instead of an acid wash to avoid damaging the shell.
